The Marketplace Fair, which is described in detail on the Marketplace Project page, was a key transition event. It both allowed students to practice what they had learned in the residency and created a sense of excitement and fun about financial literacy and learning that carried over to parents and families. This, in turn, has allowed us to work with our local partners to create the Moneybox, the Financial Learning Collaboration Center, and parent-student learning. Each of these is designed to keep the excitement, interest, and fun of the residency and Fair while using volunteers and families themselves to continue financial learning outside the home.
